Bamako 2007 reprises in Berlin exhibition

A selection of photographs from the seventh Bamako photograph biennial is now on view at the ifa Gallery in Berlin through January 11, 2009.

The exhibit, "Spot on ... Bamako 2007: VII Rencontres Africaines de la Photographie," is curated by Akinbode Akinbiyi, co-curator of the original biennial. The theme of the biennial was "In the City and Beyond." The eleven photographers deal with the issue of urbanization in a transnational context through photographs of urban and rural structures.

The eleven photographers are: Sammy Baloji, Berry Bickle, Jodi Bieber, Mohamed Camara, Saïdou Dicko, Mouna Karray, Amal Kenawy, Aida Muluneh, Soavina Ramaroson, Michael Tsegaye, and Nontsikelelo "Lolo" Veleko.
